NEW PROJECT 2011

The Ark of the Tarot
As it does each year, the Museum of the Tarot is proposing a new project.
The 2011 project is called The Ark of the Tarot.
The goal is to represent with your own art, a message of peace and unity to the world through the Tarot.
Each participating artist is asked to give a statement or declaration which can serve as the starting point for landing on a new Atlantis.
The aim is to overcome all barriers, so that the symbols inherent in each card can regain their ancient significance and become a universal tool to re-unite the world in a microcosm wherein the Golden Age of peace and harmony can link each culture with a universal vision towards a new era of brother and sisterhood.

The project is open to artists from all over the world.

Characteristics of the deck:
The deck will consist of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana.
Measurements of the card (including frame): 7 x 12 cm (2.76 inches x 4.72 inches).
Participating artists are required to either, download the form provided in 'Pdf' or ‘Jpg’ format (attached to this page), and prepare their card within the boundaries of that pattern, or work on another piece of paper, that has this attached diagram glued on it. The only constraint is not to work on or outside the exterior frame provided. Within the frame any artistic expression (on this theme) is possible and most welcomed.
Works in different formats will not be accepted by the management of the Museum of Tarots
Works must not contain: the written card title (e.g. Magician, High Priestess, Page of wands, eight of cups etc.) or the written number of symbols, as this will be taken care of by the Museum of Tarot, which will add in the words and the numbers later using the same character chart (cursive font Monotype) so that the deck will have a consistency in format

Any kind of artistic expression is welcomed: painting, photography, collage, computer art, sculpture etc.

In order to be included in this project, each participating artist must:
Send the original artwork, indicating which card was contributed for this project.
Send the image also in JPG format (300 dpi). E-mail the JPG file to Museum of the Tarot
Attach a description of their work and an explanation of the corresponding card in English. Maximum length of text: 600 characters (including spaces), set in Times New Roman, font 12 pt.

Each artist may submit up to 3 artworks.

The technical management of the project is entrusted to the Museum of the Tarot, which will select the 78 cards that will make up the final deck.
All works received (including those to be excluded from publication) will be considered donated to the museum, and will become part of its permanent collection and may be included in Volume II of the Museum of Tarots

Deadline for this project: October, 31st - 2011
