Asta Erte's Waite-Smith Tarot
100 Years Anniversary Mailart Project

Per celebrare il centenario del mazzo di Tarocchi Waite-Smith 1909-2009 Frank Jensen ha dato vita al progetto ‘Asta Erte’s Waite-Smith Tarot Mail Art Project”.
Ventidue copie del libro di tarocchi Asta Erte's (Sphinx, Copenhagen 1983) sono state distribuite ad artisti di tutto il mondo: Australia (2), Belgio (2), Canada (1), Danimarca (1), Germania (3), Gran Bretagna (2), Italia (1), Giappone (1), Russia (1), USA (8). Gli artisti dovevano trasformare il libro in qualunque modo: scrivendo, disegnando, pitturando, colorando, utilizzando la tecnica del collage ... e quindi dare la loro impronta personale.
Fino a tre artisti potevano lavorare su ogni libro, formando piccoli gruppi che lavoravano insieme.
I ventidue libri sono stati distribuiti a maggio 2009 e il progetto si è compiuto ad ottobre 2009, con 14 opere realizzate.


To celebrate the 100 year’s anniversary Frank Jensen initiated ‘Asta Erte’s Waite-Smith Tarot Mail Art Project”.
Twenty-two copies of Asta Erte’s small tarot book (Sphinx, Copenhagen 1983) were sent to 22 mail artists/tarot artists in 10 different countries around the world: Australia (2), Belgium (2), Canada (1), Denmark(1), Germany (3), Great Britain (2), Italy (1), Japan (1), Russia (1), USA (8). The intention being that the artists should transform the book in whatever way they wished by writing, drawing, painting, colouring, collaging... and thus give the book their personal imprint.
Up to three artists could work on each book, either by forwarding the book to someone else or by forming small groups who worked together.
The twenty-two books were distributed in May 2009 and returned to him not later than the end of October 2009.
Out of the 22 copies of Asta Erte's small book distributed, 14 were returned.
